Shift House

The Shift house is a single-family luxury villa located in a residential suburb adjacent to downtown Kuwait City. The geometry of the house was conceived in a way to create a dynamic flow of movement and in response to key views of the downtown skyline. The client desired a home that blended a minimalistic, architectural style with warm and tactile materials. The house maintains a sense of openness and fluidity through the use of interconnected, indoor and outdoor spaces. Taking advantage of the rear set-back adjacent to a wide alleyway, the house forms a semi-enclosure around a garden and pool area, which was designed to provide the maximum amount of sunlight while maintaining visual privacy from adjacent villas.

Retro/Modern House
2015, Kuwait
The retro/modern house was conceived as a direct response to the client’s love of 1950s Kuwait modern architecture and architectural details seen in mid 20th century Arabic films. Although the Villa was a new construction, it was intended to appear as though it was a renovated house from an earlier era, even though the area that it is located in is a relatively new coastal residential district. Natural light is emphasized on the ground floor through the use of large windows, overlooking the garden areas as well as an internal courtyard. The retro Inspired balcony with its cantilever overhangs, and a large rooftop terrace provide the resident with extensive views of the Arabian Gulf.

Multi-Family Private Beach Resort
2020, Kuwait
This multifamily private beach resort was completed in the southern coast of Kuwait in early 2020. The complex consists of a main seafront Chalet, three individual single family smaller Chalets, and a separate building for staff. With limited seaside frontage and an exceptionally deep plot size, the site plan was devised in a way to allow all units to have maximum views of the ocean or of the internal court consisting of large green areas and an expansive swimming pool.The overall mood conveys the Spirit of a Mediterranean resort where spaces are interwoven through walkways, extensive landscaping and private patios.
Keeping with the Mediterranean theme, the interiors include white concrete finished floors, extensive glazing and high ceilings, covered in traditional bamboo reeds.
